Maaleh HaZeitim (Mt. of Olives)
Maaleh HaZeitim (Mt. of Olives) is the "Jewel in the crown" for Ateret Cohanim. A true Jerusalem success story of a thriving Jewish neighbourhood of 110 families living on the slopes of Mt Olives, overlooking the Temple Mount and the Old City. The land was initially owned by a Reb Moshe Wittenberg, in the later part of the 19th Century and then sold to Kolelim Chabad and Vohlin. Arabs squatted on the lands during the Jordanian occupation, until the old Jewish property was reclaimed by well-meaning and ideological Jews.
